Ted loved his time on Gone Fishing, but knew it couldn't last forever. Ever practical, he wanted to be fully prepared for the gap it was going to leave in his life. It wasn't just about keeping his mind and body busy. He wanted to be useful. In search of his happy ever after, with fluctuating degrees of success he investigated working for the military, delivering post for Royal Mail, helping out at a care home and volunteering at the animal shelter which rescued him when he was abandoned as a puppy. Dogs and humans may age at different paces, but the undeniable truth is that none of us are getting any younger. In celebration of Ted's legacy, we can all follow his example, by embracing the future, accepting new challenges and treasuring the time we have.
